A shop I always visit when I am in Los Angeles is the on Abbot Kinney in Venice, a definite destination for everything from Hasami porcelain to Japanese woodworking classes and art exhibitions. The owners Keiko and Takuhiro Shinomoto live just around the corner in a remodeled 1940s home with lots of clean lines and multilevel, open-plan interiors, and inspiration from Tokyo, the 1935 residence of Frank Lloyd Wright apprentice Kameki Tsuchiura and the 1970s home of Keiko’s aunt and uncle. A great example of a timeless and modern LA residence.
